      A map of the encampment of the Allied army under the command of Prince Charles of Lorraine at Achel, 21-22 July 1746. War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48). Oriented with west to top.

      The march from Diessen south-east to Achel was about 30 km (18.6 miles). The encampment (Austrians, English, Hanoverian, Hessian, Dutch) extends across the heathland between Falkenswerth (Valkenswaard 51°21'03"N 05°27'35"E), a distance of about 11 km (6.8 miles).
