A list of the encamped regiments at Newport, 1757-8. Accompanies the map of the encampment on the facing page (RCIN 731068.p).

The camps took place from 27 July 1757, and 22 April 1758. The encamped regiments in 1757, under the command of Sir John Mordaunt, Lieutenant-General Conway, and Major-General Cornwallis, were: 3rd, 1st Ba. of Buffs from Dorchester Camp; 8th, 1st Bat. of Wolfe's; 20th, 1st Bat. of Kingsley's from Dorchester Camp; 31st Holmes's, 50th Hodgson's, 51st Brudenell's (all from Chatham Camp); 5th Bentinck's, 60th Amherst's, 30th Loudon's, 34th 2nd bat. of Effingham's (all from Barham Downs); 24th 1st Bat. of Cornwallis's, 37th 2nd Bat. of Stewart's (all from Amersham).

The encamped regiments in 1758, under the command of the Duke of Marlborough, Ld George Sackville, Major-Generals Dury, Mostyn, Boscawen, Waldegrave, and Elliot, were: 24th, 1st Bat. Cornwallis's; 34th, 1st Bat. of Effingham's; 36th, 2 Bat. of Lord Robert Maners's; 23rd, 2 Bat. of Welch Fuziliers and 3 Bat. Lord Charles Hay's; 5th Bentinck's; 25th Earl of Home's.
